Wave Hill is a public garden and cultural center in the Bronx overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades. Its mission is to celebrate the artistry and legacy of its gardens and landscapes, to preserve its magnificent views, and to explore human connections to the natural world through programs in horticulture, education and the arts. Wave Hill is seeking a temporary gallery greeter for up to two days/week starting in early September through November 2019. Three contemporary art exhibitions on view include Figuring the Floral in Glyndor Gallery and two Sunroom Projects by New York Community Trust Van Lier Fellows Emily Oliveira and Duy Hoàng. In addition, there will be a generated@wavehill outdoor project by Bahar Behbahani.

Responsibilities: The gallery greeter orients visitors to the gallery and Wave Hill, engages them with the artwork on view and ensures that visitors are respectful of the art. The greeter monitors and assists with care of the artworks. Staff will provide background on the exhibitions/artwork.

Requirements: Must be reliable, enthusiastic, and have strong interpersonal skills. Experience working with the public as well as knowledge of Wave Hill and contemporary art is a plus.

Dates & Schedule: This position requires availability of 1-2 days a week, Wednesday – Sunday. The hours are from 9:30 to 5:00 with a half-hour unpaid lunch period. For interested students, this position can qualify as a paid internship.

Hourly Rate: $15
