The Bronx Cultural Collective is a project funded by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, that aims to
strengthen the capacity of arts and cultural programming. This effort is being led by a group of leaders,
educators and artists from various community based interests, that have engaged to bring about efforts
to highlight and expand community access, recognition and appreciation for the artistic heritage of the
Bronx, as well as highlight and support current and future artistic programming and expression. This
work is intended to deliver skills development and capacity building opportunities for individuals,
organizations and programs within the community that support and/or engage artisans and educators
who are working to maintain community based arts programs and culture. Also, it is expected that this
effort will support collaboration between and among multiple community based partners to develop
events and experiences that will increase community engagement and interest in the arts and culture of
the borough.

The project is seeking a manager that is a skilled facilitator and planner, to execute the outreach and
community building strategies that are required for the project’s success.

The Project Manager will be expected to:

• Task to formulate goals and objectives based on input from Steering Committee; establish and
coordinate sub-committees and ad-hoc working groups to achieve project outcomes
• Advocate and represent project in efforts to achieve sustained funding opportunities in support
of community based cultural development in advancement of the goals of the Bronx Cultural
Collective
• Build collaborations that increase capacity within focus area communities which result in
sustained efforts to strengthen and support community based arts programs, activities and
cultural experiences
• Schedule, convene and facilitate meetings with steering committee, community based partners
and stakeholders as needed to implements goals and objectives
• Identify resource needs and coordinate budget allocations
• Coordinate relationships with funders, government agencies and other resource providers to
deliver information and materials to support sustainability goals
• Serve as point person for project interface between the host organization, the NYC Department
of Cultural Affairs and Community-based partners/Steering committee
• Provide bi-weekly written updates to steering committee on project deliverables
• Consolidate all project data (contact lists, agendas and publications) and information, including
progress reports, surveys/feedback, events and meetings for evaluation and grant reporting
• In a timely manner, draft all grant reports and other required updates to the funder(s) (NYC DCA
& others)

Qualifications include:

• Cultural competency and awareness of the diversity of stakeholders within the South Bronx
• Project management experience, working to build collaborations among multiple stakeholder
groups
• Ideally, three years of experience as a project manager / community organizer /Arts Educator
• Experience working within the South Bronx and NYC
• Knowledge of and experience working at a community based organization focused on arts and
culture as Teaching Artist or Producer of cultural events and programming
• Understanding of technology applications for communications and media relations
• Experience with media relations (traditional and social) and managing relationships with elected
officials and high profile stakeholders
• Multi-lingual preferred: English and Spanish a must (French a plus)
• Excellent verbal and presentation, writing, listening, and research skills
• Proven track record of achieving goals and scheduled outcomes
• Detail oriented planner with focus on prioritizing results-driven engagements
• Self-starter with tremendous drive and initiative
• 360-degree thinking, ability to connect the dots across agendas
• Honesty and integrity
• Intellectual curiosity. A drive for continued learning
• Ability to articulate goals and objectives and capacity to develop action agenda that produces
measurable outcomes for

Compensation:

• Salary commensurate with experience – range: 45-55K annual
• Anticipated start date – immediate through June 2017 (extension possible based upon
availability of funding)
