OF THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF HAITI IN NEW YORK CALL FOR HAITIAN ARTISTS — PROSPECTUS

The Artist Forum of the Consulate General of Haiti in New York is hosting an art exhibition with panel discussion at Wilmer Jennings Gallery at Kenkeleba, 214 E 2nd Street, New York, NY 10009 in the summer of 2015 featuring 60 artworks by Haitian artists.

Exhibit dates: August 19, 2015 to September 19, 2015

Exhibit title: “Energie Nouvelle”

Deadline for submissions: June 1st, 2015

Juror: Art will be judged by members of the Forum.

Eligibility: Open to all Haitian artists. There is no particular theme, but we welcome all 2D and 3D media (acrylics, watercolors, pastels, oils, drawings, collage, printmaking and photography) excluding digital art or commercially generated prints. All work must be suitably framed, wired and ready for hanging; no saw-tooth hangers. Gallery wrap canvases are allowed if the sides are painted and there are no staples showing. Works on paper must be framed under Plexiglas or glass. Artworks must be no more than 36″ in any direction excluding framing. Sculptures must weigh less than 50 lbs and must not exceed 14” in diameter and 60 inches in height. The Forum reserves the right to reject art that may offend viewers or does not meet the guidelines of this prospectus.

Acceptance: Artists will be notified of accepted works via email by June 30, 2015. Work will be refused if it does not conform to the entered image. Absolutely NO substitutions of accepted works will be allowed. All accepted work must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibit.

Sales: Artworks will be for sale and Kenkeleba Gallery will retain a 40% commission on sales. Neither the Forum nor the Consulate will accept a commission. Artwork that is not for sale must be clearly identified and will be labeled “NFS” for the exhibit.

Entry Fee: There is no fee to enter.

Entry Requirements: Artists must enter via email to ArtistForumNYC@gmail.com as follows:
– Subject of email should be: Kenkeleba_Last&Firstname (ex: Kenkeleba_DoeJohn)
– Artist identification and contact information in the body of the email:
Full name | Address, State, Zip | Telephone number o Email address
– Attach a one page Artist bio/statement
– Attach a head shot
– Attach a maximum of three (3) artworks in JPG format
– Label entries as follows:
Last Name_FIRST Name_1 (2, 3) | Example:
– doe_john_1.jpg
– doe_john_2.jpg
– doe_john_3.jpg
– List coordinates for each artwork in the body of the email (Entry# – Title – Size – Medium – Date created – Price or NFS) | For example:
1- Beautiful, 36×24, oil on canvas, 2013, $2,500
2- Marvelous art, 8×10, acrylic on masonite, 2014, NFS
3- Superb art, 20×16, Pastel on arches paper, 2014, $500

Dimensions given must be unframed size. Height must be given before width regardless of whether the work is a vertical or a horizontal. Failure to follow instructions may result in the nullification of your entry. Your email to the Forum will serve as your acceptance of the terms and conditions stated in this prospectus.

Delivery of Work: August 12, 13, 14, — from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hand-delivered work will be accepted at the gallery ONLY. Packaging must be removed from the gallery at the time of delivery.

Return of Work: Work must be picked up at the gallery on September 21, 22, 23, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Bring your own packaging.

Liability: The gallery accepts no responsibility for work not retrieved after pick-up date and will charge the artist $5.00 a day thereafter for storage. After 30 days the gallery may dispose of the work. Wilmer Jennings Gallery at Kenkeleba will not be responsible for any loss or damage to work while in transit to or from the gallery. The submission of a work of art to this exhibition shall be understood to constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to the conditions set forth in this prospectus.

IMPORTANT DATES:

June 1, 2015: SUBMISSION DEADLINE for all properly formatted materials.
June 30, 2015: Notification of acceptance.
August 12, 13, 14: Drop off of accepted work (1pm-6pm) August 19, 2015: Opening Reception (3pm-6pm)
August 30, 2015: Panel discussion (3pm)
September 19, 2015: Show closing
September 21, 22, 23: Pick up of work (1pm-6pm)
