CALL FOR ART – Artist to paint a permanent mural at the The Ridge Hill Shopping Center in Yonkers – DEADLINE: August 17

Project Overview

The Ridge Hill Shopping Center in Yonkers, NY, in cooperation with ArtsWestchester, is seeking proposals from artists for a permanent mural spanning an exterior wall to be completed by November 15, 2015.

Proposals should be original in design with family-friendly, universal appeal. Artists are encouraged to explore the themes of transportation, movement, social interaction and the local community and to present these themes in a family-friendly and positive light.

The goal of the Ridge Hill Art Connection is to create a dynamic long-term art program that evolves and progresses over time to create a vibrant, recognized and respected art collection at Ridge Hill through the installation of murals throughout the entire site.

Honorarium

The artist stipend for this project is $5,000-$7,000, commensurate upon experience and proposal. Additional funds not to exceed $2,500 are available to cover the cost of materials.

Eligibility

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and must live or maintain a studio address in the lower Hudson Valley region of New York, including NYC (all 5 boroughs), Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan Counties.

Submissions

Proposals should be 2-dimensional in design and submitted as a digital file. A site rendering of the design is also required, along with 3-5 examples of artist work. Artists are encouraged to visit the site in person or online http://www.ridgehill.com/

In addition to the project proposal and work samples, artists should prepare: a detailed timeline; materials list; budget with estimated costs for materials and fabrication; and a recent CV highlighting public art projects and related professional experience.

Timeline

Artists will be expected to complete the proposed work on a tight timeline between October 1-November 15, 2015, and should be prepared to provide complete mural delivery, including space preparation, materials and equipment, sealing, and related tasks within that time frame.

Deadline for submissions: August 17, 2015

Artist notification: No later than September 30, 2015

The work will be honored in a public reception in mid- late November 2015
